WEDDING PLANNER IN THE DOURO VALLEY
Douro Weddings is a wedding planner for weddings in and around the Douro Valley in northern Portugal. We are a sister company to Porto Events, a DMC for Porto (as well as northern Portugal in general). The Douro river stretches from the Spanish border to where it meets the Atlantic Ocean at the city of Porto – the Douro valley is most famous for being the home of Port wine and the steep valley sides are terraced with vineyards that give the Douro its unique appeal.
The Douro river is slow flowing and there is a thriving cruising sector that runs the entire length of the river; meanwhile with vineyards dating back hundreds of years there are a number of historic properties that are now used for events as well as a growing number of purpose-built events venues.
This beautiful valley has now become a very popular destination for weddings as it has so much to offer – stunning scenery, historic locations, easy access to Porto (by boat, train and motorway), competitive costs, fabulous gastronomy and of course the wine!
At Douro Weddings we are able to organise a range of weddings, from intimate events in secluded vineyards, to larger more formal events for 200 guests. Our team knows the Douro valley intimately and we have a fabulous range of trusted wedding suppliers that we can make available to our clients, including photographers/videographers, hairdressers/make-up artists, bands/DJs, caterting, transport/logistics, river cruising as well as the venues themselves. We only work with suppliers that we are 100% comfortable with, offering a fair price for a fantastic service.
Douro Weddings is able to offer full-service events on the Douro, starting with transport to and from the airport, river cruising, dining, entertainment, accommodation and touristic activities to give our clients the very best that the Douro has to offer.
If you are looking for a wedding planner, the first thing we ask is that you fill out a brief questionnaire to help us understand your requirements. Next we set up an online meeting with one of our team, so that we can answer questions you may have and make some suggestions about venues, budget, activities and so on. If you then decide that you would like to contract us as your wedding planner, we ask for a €950 deposit payment before we go into the detailed planning phase, which is deductible from the final cost of the wedding. A destination wedding typically requires a great deal of work for a wedding planner, which is why we have to ask for a deposit before we start the detailed planning.
