The Casa da Calçada – Relais & Châteaux was built during the XVI century with the intent of being of Conde de Redondo palaces. After being destroyed by the fired during the napoleonic campaigns, the building was rebuilt in 2001 and now is one of the emblematic and symbolic hotels of Portuguese hospitality. Following its original baroque style and the romantic decoration, the building was declared by the Portuguese Government as having a relevant architectural, historical and cultural interest. With its distinguished gastronomy the hotel has become one of the Portuguese gastronomic “cathedrals” contemplating one Michelin Star.
